April 10
Sunday’s Mixed Stableford had 24 players, with Jack Shanley winning with 39 points on a countback from Adie Fraser. Next came Daniel Menges and Peter Schaefer on 39.
April 13
Wednesday ‘s Men’s competition saw 67 players, with two visitors, from Howlong and Tea Tree Gully Clubs. The daily sponsor was Hallet Place Service Station.
Only two players managed to reach forty Stableford points, handing A Grade to Tony Dragun on 40 from Chas Chambers on 38. Steady John Strycharski won B Grade with 41 points from Brian Henson 37, and this score determined the C Grade placings, with new Vice-President Colin Gamble scoring 37 to count out Lindsay Gordon.
Rundowns went to Scott Lombe and Tim “Doc” Robinson on 37, Simon Bell, Mark Butt and Robert Proude on 36 and Robert Fox hounding the field with 32.
NTP Winners were Scott Lombe (twice), Ben Sellen, Tim Robinson, visitor and past member Brian Stacy, and Simon Bell.
There were three birdie scorers on the par three holes – Trevor Durdin, Rex Bichard and Andy Smith, none of whom were mentioned in other dispatches.
April 14
Steady rain throughout Thursday morning did not detract the 17 Ladies who played a Stroke competition, sponsored by Eyre Eye Centra and Boston Bay Wines.
The winner was Val Sharrad with nett 74, from Helen George, Heather Darley and Cynthia Thompson 75 and Adie Fraser.
Val Sharrad also birdied the 12th hole.
April 16
Saturday’s fine warm weather attracted 68 Men and 21 Women to the course to play a Stableford competition, sponsored by Boston Bay Wines. There were ten visitors, from a wind range of Australian Clubs – Howlong, Tea Tree Gully, Future, Maroochy River, Flagstaff Hall, Penfield, Port Augusta and all the way from Coffin Bay.
In the Men’s Divisions, all with sub-40 scores, the A Grade winner was Adam Davies on 38 points, from visitor Lincoln Blewit 36. Dave Sargent won B Grade with 39 from consistent Tim Robinson on 36, and James Fuss scored 34 to win C Grade from Broden Dennis 32.
Rundowns went to Chris Brooks, visitor Samuel Dignan and Ryan Lack 36, with Simon Bell, Mick Hegarty and Dylan Bell all on 35 points.
Jo Higgins qon the Ladies’ division with 35 on a countback from Kaye Jaensch, with visitor Vanessa Kirkham scoring 33.
NTP Winners were Simon Bell, Brett Davies, James Fuss and John Cheriton and par three birdies were scored by Adam Davies, Simon Bell, Brett Davies, Tony Dragun, Codey Marchesi and Ryan Cottrell.
