April 3
Sunday Mixed Stableford competition attracted twenty players, with Deb Sykes winning with 41 points from Jason Verhees on 39.
Rundowns went to Josh Humphries on 39 and Peter Schaefer on 37.
Peter Schaefer, Daniel Mengis and Cliff Taylor all scored par-three burdies.
April 4
Monday was Seniors’ Day and the winner was Mick Hegarty with 35 points from Peter Crawford 34 and Liz Weatherspoon 33.
April 6
Wednesday ‘s Men’s Competition hosted 72 players, with Ace Cricket Merchandise being the daily sponsor. There were two visitors, from Grange and Coffin Bay Clubs.
Cricket sponsors didn’t deter the golfers, with Benji Sellen having the score of the day to win A Grade with 42 points, from Mike Freeman with 39. John Strycharski won B Grade with 36 from Brenton George 35, and Ian Sellen took out C Grade with 36 from Gavin Roberts on 34.
Rundowns went to Warren Rosman 39, Mark Butt 38, Chris Brooks 37, Cliff Taylor and Tim Robinson 33 and Brian Smith 31.
NTP winners were Greg Cotton, Warren Rosman, Haydn Myers, Taylor Ford, Peter Schaefer and Ben Sellen and there were six par-three birdies scored, by Ben Sellen, Warren Rosman, Andrew Fraser, Rex Bichard, Haydon Myers and Tim Robinson.
April 7
A field of 21 women played a Stableford event, sponsored by MGA Bostom Bay.
The winner was Rhondda Mayfield with 34 points from Jo Higgins on 33. Then came Liz Weatherspoon, Val Sharrad and Cynthia Thompson, all on 33 points as well.
April 9
The Port Lincoln Open Championships were played on Saturday, with a host of sponsors, among them Bradford Constructions, Mitre 10, Terry White Chemmart, CPH Accounting, Lower Eyre Physio, Greg & Angela Hughes, Aiden Sheehy Building, Eyre Refrigeration, Gazander Oysters, Kwik Dry Carpet Cleaning, Tom Dawson and Graeme Charlton. Prizes included a portable refrigerator, Weber BBQ, Golf Bags and camping gear.
There were 74 Men and 18 Women players, including visitors from Coffin Bay, Cummins and Whyalla Golf Clubs.
The Men’s Open Championship Winner was Josh Hausler, on a playoff from Adam Hage; both scored 73 off the stick. Another playoff was necessary to decide the B Grade Winner, with Tim Robinson successful over Graeme Charlton, both scoring 85. The C Grade Winner was Luke Gardner with 89 from Mike Kenny on 92.
In the Handicap Divisions, Captain Chris Brooks’ nett 69 won A Grade from Jason Verhees 70, Peter Kenny won B Grade with 69 from Peter Schaefer 1, and Steve Forstner was successful in C Grade with 72 from Jake Sellen 73.
The Ladies’ Open Championship Winner was Helen George from Cynthia Thompson , with B Grade going to Rhondda Mayfield from Adie Fraser. Handicap Winners were Deb Sykes in Division 2 from Val Sharrad and Michelle Smith won C Grade from Annette Schaefer. An extra overall nett event was won by Heather Darley from Maxine Garnaut.
Form the Men, NTP Winners were Mike Freeman, Mark Cooper, Andrew Edkins and Scott Lombe, and the Ladies’ winners were Cynthia Thompson and Helen George.
The Men had a Long Drive competition in their three grades, won by Tyson Dodd, David Graetz and Ben Kotz.
