December 5
Sunday’s Stableford competition saw 25 players take to the links, with Jack Humphries winning the day with 40 points from Scotty Francis on 37. Rundowns went to Broden Dennis 37 and Ben Lamont on 36 points.
December 6
Monday’s competition was the Monthly Seniors’ Day, with Lindsay Gordon “flashing” home with 41 Stableford points, from Michelle Smith 40 and Kevin Reidy preparing for the weekend with 38 points.
December 7
Tuesday’s Twilight event only had eleven players and was won by Deb Sykes with 22 points from Josh Hausler on 19.
December 8
Eyre Refrigeration sponsored the Men’s weekly competition on Wednesday and 66 players hit off.
Young Ashley Durdin, now on an 11 handicap, won the A Grade with 36 Stableford points, on a count-back from seasoned player Mick Hegarty. There was a “doctor in the house” where Tim Robinson won B Grade with 38 and the score of the day, from Dave Batterbury on 37. C Grade winner was Lindsay Gordon with 37 from Cody Manuel 36.
Rundowns went to Grant Bamber, Chas Chambers, David Fitzgerald and George Mayhew, all on 36 points, from Maurie Barry and silent Boris Kovacic on 35.
NTP Winners were Chas Chambers, Tim Robinson (twice), Ben Jaensch, Greg Cotton and Warren Rosman. Birdies came from Mick Hegarty, Grant Bamber, Huey Rosalia, Steve Thompson and Ralph Glass.
December 9
A good field of 25 ladies hit off on Thursday for a Stroke competition, sponsored by the Wheatsheaf Hotel and Daniells’ Recycling.
Sue Bishop won the day with 69 nett from Carolyn Cocks 70. Rundowns went to Diana Laube 72, Val Sharrad 73 and Rhondda Mayfield and Jo Higgins, both on 74.
NTP winners were Helen George, Jinny Hussey and Val Sharrad.
December 10
Friday’s Teams Ambrose competition saw 59 players hit off.
December 11
Saturday’s Stroke competition was for the Christmas Hampers in all grades, including runners-up. There were 81 men and 16 women vying for the prizes and there were two visitors, from Tea Tree Gully and Coffin Bay. The daily sponsors were Coffin Bay Pacific Oysters.
The A Grade winner was Trent Bradford, counting out Jamie Puddy on nett 69. Chris Cottrell won B Grade with 69 from Paul Oldacre on 72. The C Grade winner was Dave Graetz on 69 from Broden Dennis on 73.
Rundowns went to Andrew Tiller and Adam Davies 70, Jake Norris 71, Mike Freeman 72 and Tom George, Simon Bell and Trevor Durdin, all on nett 73.
The Ladies’ winner was Helen George on a three way countback, with Maxine Garnaut being runner-up.
NTP winners were Cynthia Thompson, Simon Bell, Leo Newman, Norm Marks, Chas Chambers, Lance Appleby and Trent Bradford. The NTP winner for the second shot on the second hole over the past fw months will be drawn and announced next week.
Eight birdies on par three holes were won by Jamie Puddy, Adam Davies, Mike Freeman, Ryan Lack, Jason Verhees, Greg Barry, Rex Bichard and Ben Kotz.
Other news
The Ladies’ Christmas Party last week raised $724 for Angel Flight.
A group of four golfers – Mark Cooper, Ben Lamont, Lance Appleby and Todd Slade – played a total of 72 holes (four rounds) with sponsorship for the Cancer Council of SA, raising over $3,000.
