Port Lincoln Golfers had a beautiful day on Saturday to compete in a Par competition sponsored by Terry White Chemmart. With the elements giving all players the best opportunity to put their best round forward, Libby Dolphin stood up in the ladies’ division and scored a terrific +5. Adie Fraser was her closest rival having scored a straight 0.
On the men’s side of things, scores couldn’t have been closer. In the A Grade, Chris Brooks just snuck through on a countback from Rick Kolega, both men scoring -1. A countback was required for B Grade as well, Greg Hughes just edging out Juri Berzins with both of them shooting +1. A single shot separated Garry Downey and Peter Watherston in C Grade, shooting -1 and -2 respectively.
Thursday’s women’s Stableford competition was sponsored by McDonalds and was taken out by Liz Weatherspoon, who shot a well respected 36 points. Carolyn Cocks and Val Sharrad were right on her heels, both scoring 35 points.
Wednesday’s Men’s Stableford competition was sponsored by Hunts Fuel. The score of the Day could be found in C Grade where Colin Gamble took out the honours with a staggering 43 points. Garry Downey came in second in C Grade a full 10 points behind. A and B Grade were much tighter affairs. In the A Grade, Tyron George walked away on top with 37 points, Daryl Evans not too far behind with a respectable 35 points. B Grade saw John Strycharski victorious with 37 points, three ahead of his nearest rival in Christopher Cottrell.
