Jenny Snags The Big One

Every golfer dreams about it, none can deny it. The idea of walking into the clubroom with your arms raised high as you celebrate a Hole in One. For Jennifer McDonald, that was reality after having done so on the 6th hole. With it being an uphill hole with no sight of the green from the tee block, Jennifer knew her shot was good but had no idea just how good until she got to the green and saw the result for herself.

The highlight of the week aside, players competed for the Monthly Medal on Saturday’s stroke competition, sponsored by Eyre Trading. In the ladies competition, 12 women took to the field with Reeta Devi blitzing the competition with a Nett 66, a full eight shots clear of Deborah Skyes in second place.

On the men’s side of things, 87 players competed with Simon Bell claiming A grade honours with 74 off the stick. Scott Lombe was close but unable to reach Simon, ending the day with 75. In the B Grade, Steven Thomson took the win with 81 off the stick, Jim Kassiotis close behind three shots off the pace. Matthew de Veer took out C grade off the stick with 94. On the Nett side of things, Mark Rowett just edged past Mike Munro on a countback with the two of them scoring a Nett score of 71.

The ladies were out again on Thursday in Stableford competition. The battle was fierce with a countback being required to settle the winner with Heather Darley just scrapping past Deborah Sykes with both women scoring 36 points.

Hunt Fuel sponsored the men’s Stableford competition on Wednesday where 71 men took to the field. Tyron George took out A grade with a score of 39, two shots clear of his nearest rival in Michael Freeman. The score of the day was scored in B grade with Steven Forstner shooting a score of 41. Cliff Taylor played well but had to settle for second place with a score of 39. Brenton George found himself atop C Grade with 36 points, winning on a countback from Darren Chann.
