Winter golf is upon us. The grass is getting that little bit taller. Dew remains on the green that little bit longer. Conditions are changing, causing players to change their tactics. Saturday’s Par competition, proudly sponsored by Shield Security, saw Reeta Devi take on the changing conditions and come out on top. Her score of 5 was just enough to edge past Jinny Hussey in second by a single shot.
In the Men’s Par competition, A Grade could only be settled via countback with Geoff Nottle creeping past Robert Proude, both men having a score of 2. B Grade saw Geoffrey Chambers score of 3 enough to hold off Peter Fare and his score of 2. C Grade saw the largest difference between first and second, Brenton George and his score of 0 two shots ahead of Shaun Carpenter.
On Thursday the women did battle in Stableford competition with CPH Accounting sponsoring the event. Val Sharrad came out on top with a score of 37 points. Close behind were both Lyn Hosking and Diana Laube who each shot 35 points.
Wednesday’s Men’s Stableford competition was also sponsored by CPH Accounting. A Grade was won on countback with Daniel Brown just making it past Rick Kolega, both men shooting 37 points. Greg Hughes took home B Grade honours with 37 points, two shots ahead of his nearest opponent in Graeme Parker. C Grade also saw a two shot gap between the winner and runner up with Jeffrey Tiller inching past Lindsay Gordon.
