Friday 11th March was the last round of the second half 10 Round Comp, and with that the 2021/2022 Friday Night Ambrose season is done and dusted.
I know I say it nearly every week, but on behalf of Myself, Huey and the Golf Club a massive thank you to everyone who has participated first half last year and second half this year. the support of this comp is massive and we truly do appreciate the support.
One main reason for the Friday Night Ambrose comp starting was to allow non-members the ability to come and have a social hit for a minimal fee, in a hope the golf bug bites, and become members of the club down the track. I am happy to say many current members have been a result of playing on Friday Night.
Not forgetting existing members who have commented that they enjoy the relaxed nature of Friday nights and allow them to fine tune their swings before playing comp golf on Saturday.
Hopefully the mix of non and full members continues with more players and teams in the future.
Please feel free to flick me a message on email or phone if you have any suggestions that might make Friday Nights better for you, we are always looking to improve/encourage as many players as possible.
Now, to the important stuff, the winners!!!
The Full Score Card is up in the clubroom for those who are interested (and also attached).
OVERALL RESULTS - (Prizes for 1st to 7th - If not already received on the night, there is an envelope with your team name behind the bar for you to collect)
1st Overall with a total nett score 558.825 was the clear standout team, THE BIRDIE HUNTERS. They were 30 shots better than the next, on average they were 3 shots better than anyone else each week. Very impressive when you are only playing 9 holes. Well Done to Mike and his team. Too Good.
2nd to 5th were all separated by 1 stroke or less.
2nd Overall with nett score 589.088 were the squeaky clean plumbers S.A.P.S This group regularly had enough for 2 teams and could have quite easily put all there eggs in one basket, but would enter S.A.P.S. 2 so more people could play. Thanks and well done.
3rd Overall with nett score 590.708 was HOW DO YOU SPELL MATE.... not good enough! It was all Huey's fault.
4th Overall with nett 591.500 went to TEACH ME HOW TO BIRDY newcomers to the comp that have improved week in week out. A below average final round for them saw them drift from 2nd Overall to 4th. A tweak or two to the handicap and no doubt they will be around the mark again.
5th Overall with nett 592.996 was COME HERE JACK led by Dylan Bell who can now give his shoulders a well earned rest! Dylan's team regularly consisted of young and old new golfers introducing them to the game. A fantastic result.
6th Overall with nett 596.429 was N.A.G.A. another team led by club member Cliff Taylor consisting of non members. Well done.
7th Overall with nett 604.309 went to DON'T LEAVE IT SHORT a great effort from a team that had a number of different team members, new and old, throughout. Well done.
To everyone else, we have not forgotten you and whilst we wish we had an abundance of prizes so everyone could walk away with something we just aren't in that position. We do hope many of you were able to enjoy the BBQ at the end of the season.
Thanks Again, and look forward to next daylight saving where we can do it all again!
Cheers,
Josh
Feedback
“Just wanted to say thanks for another fun season. Me and the other blokes enjoy the laid back nature of it and a chance to get out for a hit.
Thanks for the work you and the team put in to make it possible plus the volunteers behind the bar that we keep back late most weeks”.
Cheers,
Chad
