July 30

Saturday was the second a final round of the Men’s Championships. Junior Golf Coordinator Sean Thomas won A Grade with rounds of 79/80 – 159, from Ben Abley on 161. Tony Dragun was successful in B Grade with 168 from Todd George on 170 and Cliff Taylor with 183 convincingly won C Grade from Tim Pobke on 195.

It was also Monthly Medal Day for the 64 players, sponsored by McDonald’s Family Restaurant. Ben Abley won A Grade with 78, Todd George won B Grade with 85 and Cliff Taylor took out C Grade with 88. There were two visitors from Lang Lang and Thaxted Park Golf Clubs.

In the Men’s Handicap divisions, Andrew Tiller won B Grade with 73 on a countback from Daryl Evans. Todd George won B Grade with 70 from Phillip Remphrey on 72 and Cliff Taylor’s 69 accounted for Colin Clark on 81.

Rundowns went to Tony Dragun, Ben Abley and Graham Tiller, all on 74, with Scott Lombe on 75.

Only nine Women played and the winner was Val Sharrad on a countback from Deb Sykes, both with 76 nett.

NTP Winners were Dan Townsend, Phillip Remphrey, Luke Murray, visitor Bob Baird, Mike Freeman (twice) and Chas Chambers.

July 28

Nineteen women played a Stableford round on Thursday, sponsored by Evoke Haircutters and Lower EP Physio. Fine conditions prevailed.

The winner for the day was Rhondda Mayfield with 36 points from Deb Sykes on 35. Rundowns went to Carolyn Cocks 33. Liz Weatherspoon and Gail Watherston both scored 32 points.

Liz Weatherspoon birdied the 18th hole and NTP winners were Josie Bacchus, Lorraine McDonald and Jo Higgins.

July 27

Wednesday’ Men’s round saw 59 players hit off in fine conditions, not reflected by the scores. The day was sponsored by Port Lincoln Tugs and there was one visitor from Sussex Inlet.

Rex Martin won A Grade with 35 Stableford points from Mick Hegarty on 34, Peter Kenny won B Grade with 35 from Tony Dragun 34, and Chris Cottrell was successful in C Grade with 34 from Graeme Parker on 31.

Rundowns went to Steve Thomson 34, Andrew Fraser and Gavin Cheriton on 33 and Gerry Hemming on 31.

Peter Kenny was the only par-three birdie winner, scoring on the ninth hole.

July 24

Sunday’s Mixed Stableford competition saw Cindy Carr winning with 37 points from Ben Sellen on 33 and Scott Lombe scoring the lone run-down and also birdying the ninth hole. The day was sponsored by Lincoln Meat Service.
