September 17
With football finals, Saturday’s players were limited to fifty Men and seven Women players, most of whom probably played in the morning. They played a Stableford round, sponsored by Bakers Delight. There were three visitors, from Gunnedah Golf Club.
My guess is that Boyd McCurry was an early starter and won A Grade with 38 points from Scott Lombe on 35. John Strycharski on 32 points counted out Juri Berzins to win B Grade and Paul Oldacre won C Grade with 34 from Colin Clark 32.
Rundowns went to Chris Brooks and Adam Sullivan on 34 and Warren Rosman and Grant Bamber on 32.
In the Women’s division, Deb Sykes with 35 points counted out Heather Darley and next was Cynthia Thompson on 31. She also birdied the 6th hole and was nearest the pin on the 6th and ninth holes.
NTP Winners for the Men were Dan Townsend, Trevor Durdin, Don Henson and Brenton George Par-three birdies were achieved by Chris Brooks, Paul Oldacre, John Strycharski and Jake Norris.
The semi-finals of the Doug Watson Trophy were played and Huey Rosalia defeated Haydn Myers 3/2, with Luke Gardner winning from Geoff Nottle 2/1. These two winners will play the final this Saturday over 36 holes of handicap match play.
September 15
18 Women played a Stroke round on Thursday, again sponsored by The Wheatsheaf Hotel.
The daily winner was Elaine Pierik with nett 74 from Cynthia Thompson 77. Rundowns went to Heather Darley 77, Ally Russell 78 and Val Sharrad 80.
Heather Darley won the Season’s Monthly Medal, following today’s final round.
NTP Winners were Liz Weatherspoon, Lorraine McDonald and Val Sharrad.
September 14
53 Men played in their Wednesday competition, sponsored by the Wheatsheaf Hotel.
With the only score over 40 Stabeford points, Dan Townsend won A Grade with 41 from Warren Rosman on 38. Chris Cottrell on 38 won B Grade from Mark Cooper 37, and C Grade winner was Graeme Parker on 38 from Bob Sorensen on 36.
Rundowns went to Rex Bichard 36, Trevor Durdin and Toby Dragun 35 and Brenton George and Peter Leahy on 34.
NTP Winners were Geoff Nottle, Josh Hausler (twice), Tom Dawson, Scott Lombe and Chas Chambers.
Kym Hosking, Toby Dragun and Rob Humphries all scored par-three birdies.
September 11
Sunday’s Mixed Stableford event was sponsored by Bradford Constructions and was won by Lindsay Gordon with 38 points from Chris Baird on 35, on a countback from Ally Russell.
Par-three birdies were scored by Chris Baird, Ally Russell and Huey Rosalia.
