Sometimes you have to take a step back and applaud a good round. Saturday saw 83 men take to the field in Par competition where the A grade winner Dylan Bell shot a riveting 67 off the stick to secure a score of 6. Gavin Cheriton was two shots off the pace with a score of 4. In the B Grade, James Fuss scraped by with a score of 3, beating Jason Verhees on a countback. C grade was also separated by a countback with Stephen Rees finishing in front of Ben Kotz with both men having scored 1.
15 women also participated in a Par round Saturday, Heather Darley walking away victorious with a score of 2, 1 shot clear of her nearest rival in Lorraine McDonald.
Wednesday’s Stableford competition saw 61 men take part. A grade saw Norm Marks atop the leaderboard with a score of 39, Steven Forstner right on his heels with 38 points. John Strycharski won B grade, playing to handicap and scoring 36 points in the process. Michael Kenny came runner up having scored 35. C Grade saw the score of the day with Mike Munro blitzing the competition with 42 points to his name, four shots clear from Boris Kovacic who shot 38 points.
On Thursday, 20 women took part in Stroke Competition. Margaret Jenkins top scored for the day with 74 with Val Sharrad close behind with 75.
The Port Lincoln Golf Club is holding Women's Come and Try golf clinics on March 3rd, 10th and 17th on Sundays for interested players. No experience necessary and all equipment can be provided. Bring a friend, make new friends and enjoy the wonderful world of golf.
