The ladies were out in full force on Thursday with 24 women taking part in the stroke competition in pristine conditions. While Gail Watherston fought gamely with her Nett of 72 it was no match for Elaine Thring who blew the field with her Nett of 68.
The women were also showing off their skills on Saturday in Stableford competition. With a field of 17, Heather Darley took the chocolates with a score of 40 points, just one ahead of Cindy Carr who scored a very respectable 39.
66 men took part in their own Stableford competition on Saturday with tight scores across all grades. In the A grade, Gavin Cheriton took out honours having scored 36, just ahead of Jeb Casanova who just missed out with his 35. David Bellchambers scored the highest of the men for the day, his 40 points in B grade just holding off Phillip Remphrey’s impressive 39. A countback had to settle the winner from the runner up in C grade, Gary Cutris just edging out Bailey Fraser with both men having scored 38 points.
Wednesday saw the highest number of competitive golfers of the week, 87 men taking to the field. Tyron George top scored in A grade with 42 points to his name in the mid week Stableford competition. Kris Bunder held on to second from a compact field with his 38 points. Kym Hosking took control of B grade, his 38 points holding off a fast finishing Steven Bilson who scored 36 points. Tom Charlton had the score of the day, taking out C grade with 44 points, ahead of Colin Gamble who shot a very respectful 40 points.
Special congratulations have to be made to Dylan Vonderwall who successfully scored a hole in one during Wednesday’s competition on the sixth hole.
