The Port Lincoln Golf Club has run a successful Junior Golf Programme for several years, providing opportunities for youngsters to learn about the game, develop their skills and enjoy participating in a fun, safe and challenging sport.
On alternate Sunday mornings, the PLGC's Junior Coordinator Norm Marks hosts two separate junior golf sessions, one for Primary School aged children between 9 and 10:30am, the other for High School students from 10:30am until Midday.
Players can expect to receive junior coaching in all facets of the game:-
putting and chipping drills on the practice green
iron and wood practice on the driving range
mini competitions on the course
safety, ettiquette and rules training
No experience is necessary and some equipment can be provided. Parents are encouraged to attend. The sessions are free for PLGC Junior Members, $2 each for non-members.
Other events that are offered at various times throughout the year include:-
junior golf clinics with visiting golf pros and coaches
S.A.P.S.A.S.A. qualifying rounds for Year 5, 6 and 7 students; students who qualify have the opportunity to represent Lower Eyre Peninsula at the Country Championships in Adelaide in September
our annual Junior Competition Day in March, featuring three separate events based on age, experience and ability
